Serial Numbers Do the Work Titles Do for Cars
Most machinery is not titled the way vehicles are — the serial number (PIN) plus the ownership chain of invoices is what identifies the machine through customs. Accurate serials matter: a transposed digit between the invoice and the physical plate stalls a crossing.

Machinery enters Mexico as a commercial import: the customs broker files with the equipment’s classification, value documentation and the importer’s registry information.
