Staging on the U.S. Side
Vehicles do not roll straight from an Ohio highway into Mexico. They stage at the border corridor — in Dobie’s case, South Texas — where documentation is verified complete before the crossing is scheduled. Staging is also where the U.S. export verification requirement (advance notice to CBP) is satisfied.
The Crossing Itself
With export verification done and the Mexican import filed, the vehicle crosses at the port of entry. The mechanics vary by operation — some vehicles cross on carriers, others are driven across by authorized personnel — but the requirement is the same: paperwork cleared before wheels touch the bridge.
Reception on the Mexican Side
